ADVANCING WOMEN IN AUTO RETAIL
February 12, 2006—To further its goal of advancing women in auto retail, AWARE (Advancing Women in Automotive Retail Enterprises) is launching new features on its Web site this week. Interviews with successful women in the industry and how-to industry articles on topics such as human resources management will be available on the “members only” section of the site, said AWARE president Caryl Herschman. The site has another section on how to get and retain female customers. A jobs listing will be added later this year.
AWARE, launched in 2002, also offers consulting services. Members at dealerships can get a 30-minute free consultation to help them hire, train, and retain employees as well as advertise and market to women. AWARE members are available as speakers at industry events.
AWARE also announced a partnership with a similar Australian group, SHEDrives, to share resources and information.
Membership in AWARE (AwareForWomen.org) is $100 for individuals, with group discounts for dealerships, repair shops, and corporations. It currently has more than 100 members.
